Having a sensitive skin allergic to almost everything (especially industrial products and artificial substances) is normal with your ancestry and DNA, the good side is that you are like a detector that can spot and reject unnatural and harmful things easily. The translation isn't really that far off, it's mostly just the implied subject being unclear and misleading which is pretty common when translating from Japanese. The way Ranni talks definitely doesn't help. The game was intended to be in English, but it's still made in Japan by Japanese people. I don't know if Fromsoft ever specifically confirmed it, but I doubt it. They like to let people come up with their own interpretation of their games, regardless if it's correct or not.
It makes a noise when the enemy is "staggered". Like the orange glow on bosses. Even though we can't see the orange glow, the stagger sound means you can get a critical hit there. :)
You have way too much stamina for a caster, your hp bar should be how much mana you have, your mana should be stamina and your stamina bar should be the lenght of your hp bar. The Hyperbeam is very mana inefficient when you dont hold down the button so you need alot of mana to use it. Also if you upgrade spirits they need way more mana to be summoned, you may reach a point where you dont even have enough max mana to summon a strong version of the fish anymore.
