Something you may not have noticed: it's heavily implied that Angela killed her father! The newspaper article you come across when you enter Abstract Daddy's boss domain () mentions a certain Thomas Oro*** who was murdered in a crime of passion (Angela's last name is Orosco, as seen on her tombstone). There are further subtle hints earlier on; for example, Angela's knife has blood stains on it when you meet her. On Abstract Daddy himself: people already mentioned that he's one figure _lying on top of_ another figure, but the game also tells you certain things via environmental storytelling as well. Angela's safe space includes a teddy bear, and her frequent mentions of "mama" instead of "mother" indicate regression from trauma (a very real psychological phenomenon among victims of abuse). The winding corridors and claustrophobic atmosphere create a labyrinth that Angela could find a temporary reprieve from inside of a narrow closet, but could never truly escape, further accentuated by the screaming on the television showing how her father gaslit her into staying*. And in the final phase of the boss fight, the walls turn into human skin (she's truly trapped by another _human,_ not her childhood home), and you are surrounded by dozens upon dozens of girating pistons, making a rhythmic pumping motion meant to evoke, well, sexual intercourse, hence "or you could force me, like _he_ always did" (). Her suspicion when you're trying to find a little girl (Laura) and derision when talking about "your own little Mary" start to make more sense when you consider the context of her relationship with her father- James doesn't look like a savior, but rather another potential abuser in her eyes- you used force to kill Daddy, so that means that you could potentially use that force _on her,_ or the other women in James' life. Some really dark stuff.
